Elyssa Lee Loves…..art. I am an artist, and art in all of its forms intrigues me because art can be a true expression of emotion.

    I became a hairstylist because I truly love the art of helping people find their inner love for themselves, and realize it on the outside. My passion for styling and cutting began as a child. I was always fascinated with color, starting by coloring my barbies hair with markers and cutting the hair so short I would cry when I realized I couldn’t put it back and eventually my curiosity lead me to cutting my younger sister’s hair at the age of 3 (she was 2).… not a mark on her, proud to say. We never had very much money and so going to the salon was not something my family did, so we learned how to cut and style each other’s hair, conning our friends into letting us experiment on theirs, as well. I learned huge mistakes before I ever stepped foot in a beauty school.

    In high school I took pride in the styles I created for my friends for prom and senior photos, I enjoyed helping to style them from start to finish. Going with them to pick out their dress’s and accessories are some of my fondest memories. I always was a theme girl, and would go over the top for prom with my hair and makeup, my dad always made sure I had a fancy dress, no matter what the cost.

    When I graduated and moved into real life, hairstyling became more and more of a creative outlet and has been a spring board into my pursuits in other areas of art. Styling hair for weddings, budoir and prom gives me an opportunity to connect with clients in a way that is very special, as the photographs from these occasions will be a portal through which a person connects from this present to another, during the most magical and vulnerable times of a person’s life. And that is truly remarkable.
